Compact Portable Compression Massager Provides Blood Circulation Improvement Anytime, Anywhere
North Brunswick, NJ (PRWEB) March 10, 2008 -- Mark of Fitness, Inc. announced that it has received FDA clearance on the RevitaLeg® portable compression massager (AM-7). The RevitaLeg is the first compact, battery operated, compression massager available for over the counter purchase. Using patented technology and compact design, the RevitaLeg delivers a gentle massage to the lower leg.
In just a few minutes of use, the specially designed massaging action provides temporary relief from muscle aches and pains and promotes an increase in circulation. The intermittent compression massage is similar to that provided by expensive, hospital quality devices but without the need for bulky boots or sleeves.
No bigger than a soda can, the RevitaLeg can be used virtually anywhere. It is especially useful for airline travel, where long periods of sitting can lead to the development of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that traveling by plane, bus or train for four hours or more doubles the risk of developing life threatening DVT. Use of the RevitaLeg during such periods can provide the circulation boost that is achieved by walking and thus reduce the risk of developing a DVT.
Intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) is generally recognized within the medical community as a safe and effective means of improving circulation in the legs and feet of people who are immobile for long periods. Many hospitals use IPC as a standard practice to prevent the development of DVT in patients undergoing surgery or who are confined to beds. Until now, IPC was not considered practical for home use because the equipment was large and expensive.
"We are very excited to be launching a product that can bring real benefits to the consumer," says John Wilson, Vice President of Marketing for Mark of Fitness, Inc. "RevitaLeg represents a chance to help avoid a serious and often unrecognized problem. More Americans die each year from DVT than breast cancer and AIDS combined."
According to Okisuki Murayama, CEO of Mark of Fitness, "The RevitaLeg was developed by our parent company, NISSEI, in co-operation with one of Japan's leading authorities in the treatment of DVT. The pressure profiles and massage cycles were designed to be the same as those delivered by hospital devices. NISSEI is committed to bringing the latest technology in home health care devices to the American market." The RevitaLeg offers three different levels and modes of massage. Simply wrap the cuff around your calf and press start. Just ten minutes of use on each leg delivers an improvement in circulation, helps reduce swelling in the feet, and provides temporary relief from muscle aches in the lower leg.
RevitaLeg will begin shipping in May, and the company is pre-booking orders now. The product will be sold through home care dealers, retail pharmacies, specialty stores and on-line. The suggested retail price is $149, and the product may be qualified for reimbursement under certain health plans and for specific conditions. About Mark of Fitness, Inc.
