Making the Sacrifice on the Home Front a Little Easier: Military Families to Receive New Lawn-Boy Mowers

Bloomington, MN (PRWEB) March 18, 2008 -? The public is invited to nominate military families with loved ones serving in the Middle East to receive one of 15 new Lawn-Boy mowers. Lawn-Boy and Project EverGreen, a national non-profit organization, have partnered in the ?Mowers for Military Families? program for a second year to help reduce the stress of yard care for military families without a working mower.

Anyone can nominate a family to receive an easy-to-use Lawn-Boy mower by filling out and submitting a brief form on either www.lawn-boy.com/militaryfamilies or www.projectevergreen.com.

?We want to help make lawn mowing easier for military families,? said Rob Little, marketing manager for Lawn-Boy. ?Their lives are already stressful without the headaches of a mower that doesn?t work properly. Military people and their families make great sacrifices, and we thank them for all they do for our country.?

According to Den Gardner, executive director of Project EverGreen, ?Our goal is to get these mowers into the hands of families who take care of their own lawns, but don?t have the right equipment. This program is a terrific complement to our GreenCare for Troops, which provides military families with free lawn care through 1,200 volunteers.?

To nominate a family ? either your own or another ? submit an entry detailing why a new lawn mower is needed in 150 words or fewer. Photos of the family or even an old, beat-up mower are encouraged as part of the submission, but not required. Nomination forms can be obtained and submitted online at www.lawn-boy.com/militaryfamilies or www.projectevergreen.com, or by writing to Lawn-Boy, ?Mowers for Military Families LB, P.O. Box 20026, Minneapolis, MN 55420.

Fifteen recipients will be chosen from among the nominations. Nominated households must have a member of the immediate family serving in the military in the Middle East. The program is open from March 14 through May 14, 2008.

Families chosen will receive a Lawn-Boy® Insight? walk-behind mower, like those available at authorized dealers nationwide. This mower was chosen because of its easy-to-use features for family members, including easy starting, an Easy-Lift bag system for simple handling of clippings, adjustable handle height and easy folding for storage.

Yvonne Glover of Alabama, one of last year?s recipients whose husband was injured while serving in Afghanistan, said, ?It is always great to see companies and individuals use their expertise to do things to help military families during a time of such transition and hardship.?
